Peanut Congo Grey

Peanut was purchased from my friend Linda Rockwell.  He was born on May 18 2007.  We purchased Peanut at 3 weeks of age and hand raised him ourselves.  He has been just a complete joy to have.  He LOVES to have his head rubbed, and talked to.  He can mock the doorbell, which is always fun b/c gets the little dogs barking.  He also recently learned to sing the song "LOLLYPOP"  which is so funny.

I hope to soon be able to add video's of our litttle one.

Greys have a common myth attatched as being one person birds.  I feel though that since in the wild they are very social it is a matter of who handles the grey.  For example, Peanut is 100% my baby, but if I introduce him or hand him off to a friend or even hubby he is fine with them espeically if they rub his head.

Greys love to play , mimic , and are very affectionate birds.  They can live appx 50 years with good care so this is not a choice to own one to be taken lightly.  They can also be very nervous and known to be bad pluckers however as long as given lots of love and no major change in enviroments this usually doesnt tend to be a problem.

Below is a photo album of some of the pics that I have and plan to add a bunch more.

Here is a link to the most well known African Grey Alex.  This is a must read site!!!
